These icons were originally created for the Icon Jam '98, which was hosted by the IconPlanet (www.iconplanet.com). Though the IconPlanet is now a completely different animal, I thought my little icons should live on. I've even added an icon I didn't submit originally because of obvious likenesses to the work of other, much-more famous artists. Specifically, check out the 'Atari 2600' icon in World of Copland 4 from the Iconfactory (www.iconfactory.com). Notice the resemblence? I tried really hard to make my Atari of the same model look different, with little success, so I hunted down the real silver coloured Atari 2600 and iconized that instead, for the purposes of the Icon Jam.
These icons are MacOS 8.5 ready - which actually was a big pain in the butt. You see, I submitted the icons and waited happily until the day Noel Greene (of the IconPlanet) released the Icon Jam '98 set, which I promptly downloaded and checked out. Lo and behold, something had gone wrong and all that was left were crappy 256 colour renditions of my work - and not the ones I'd made! These were the horrid ones made by the MacOS' built-in icon routines, created by turning the 8-bit mask into a 1-bit mask and dithering all the colours! How horrid!! So I begged Noel to let me re-submit just 256 colour icons and re-compile the set. Noel was very kind in letting me do so, and as a result few people (hopefully) ever saw those sad, mangled icons.
I actually owned an original Atari. When one of the StarWars movies came out, when I was really young, Burger King had a contest to win one, with a copy of Space Invaders. Gues who won? Me. It was the only thing I ever won. Burger King took my picture to put on the wall, and I got to eat a meal on them too. When I tired of fighting invading space-creeps by myself, I'd make my mom play with me... I think I have a great mom :) So you can see, the Atari, and Space Invaders is actaully a very special memory for me.
Presently, I'm trying to hunt one down. A couple of my buddies have them, but so far the Holy Atari has eluded me.
Oh yeah, my Atari died eventually in a freak plant-watering accident.

How to make use of these Mac Icons:
1. You need system 7 or higher.
2. Do a "Get Info" (File menu) on the original icon file that you want to use.
3. Click on the icon in the window; choose "Copy" (Edit menu).
4. Close the window, then "Get Info" on destination file/folder/disk.
5. Click on the icon, choose "Paste" (Edit menu).
